Big Top Cupcake Review… Anything But Ordinary
By Big Top Cupcake on Jun 3, 2009 in Cupcakes, Desserts
Cooking has always been a passion of mine. With two kids at 4 & 7 years old, I’m always looking for new & innovative ways to make cooking fun, for both my children and I.
Cupcakes, cupcakes, cupcakes! If my kids could eat cupcakes for every meal, they would. Then, Christmas came early when I saw a commercial for Big Top Cupcake, an amazing creation or product that allows you to make huge, colossal cupcakes (25x Larger than the average cupcake)! With my kids glued to the TV, enthralled with each formation and design – the size alone was breathtaking. Not only has the Big Top Cupcake provided hours of entertainment for my children, it has allowed me to concoct unimaginable creations. Combinations I never knew existed! The possibilities are endless. From cake and ice cream to the Big Top Cupcake — anyone can find enjoyment in baking and eating this tasty treat! Stay tuned for more updates on my Big Top Cupcake Review!
I also saw the commercial for Big Top Cupcake and immediately gravitated to the computer.
After investigating the product, I narrowed it down to two options – Big Top Cupcake or the Wilton Great Cupcake Pan from Williams-Sonoma. Here are my findings:
BIG TOP CUPCAKE
2 silicon pans & a separator: Every great cook knows that cakes of different shapes and sizes, especially cupcakes, often cook at various speeds and time.
Greatest Advantage: 2 Pans – Allows for even cooking. With two pans, you can cook one mold longer than the other, ensuring the cake is baked all the way through, without burning.
The Separator/Insert — Creates a hollow space inside the cupcake to fill with anything you desire, i.e. pudding, custard, mouse, gelatin, fruit, or ice cream. This is by far my favorite part! It provides an area for creativity, not to mention a tastier treat. Possibilities are endless.
Wilton’s Great Cupcake Pan
At almost $40, this pan is double the price of the Big Top Cupcake pan. After weighing all my options, the Big Top Cupcake pan is not only more conventional, it’s also more practical.
Although I tried to maintain an unbiased opinion, I found it difficult to find any advantages with the Great Cupcake Pan. Unlike the Big Top Cupcake pan, it does not come in separate pieces. Instead, all components of the cupcake are built in one pan – which means the possibility of overcooking is much greater. Also, the creations are limited.

The Big Top Cupcake is the better choice, no doubt! Not only is it more practical, its easier to clean, more easily stored, and you get to have much more fun creativity wise!
